Discovery of a Rare HalfPink Diamond in a Botswana Mine Weighing 3741 Carats

Khaberni - In a very rare discovery in the world of jewelry, a stunning half-pink diamond was found in the famous Karowe mine in Botswana, weighing 37.41 carats (7.5 grams), with a distinct boundary between its dark pink section and the colorless section, which is very rare due to the precise geological conditions necessary for its formation.

Experts described the diamond as one of the most prominent pink diamonds in history, with Oded Mansouri, co-founder of HB Antwerp diamond-cutting company, stating: "This stone has the potential to become one of the most important pink diamonds ever polished, and its rich color reflects the geological uniqueness of the Karowe mine."

The Journey of the Diamond's Formation
The stone was formed over 3 billion years ago under extreme heat and pressure at a depth of 150-200 kilometers beneath the Earth's surface.

It is believed that the pink color originated from precise structural deformations, while excessive deformation leads to a color change to brown. It is likely that the pink section formed first, followed by the colorless section later.

This diamond is not the first of its kind in the mine, which has previously produced huge gems such as Sewelo (1,758 carats), Sethunya (549 carats), and Moustweidi (2,488 carats), the largest diamond discovered in 120 years.

The Value of the Diamond and the Polishing Process
The price of the stone has not been determined yet, as factors such as weight, cut, color, and clarity will be considered. The diamond is currently kept at HB Antwerp, where it will undergo a precise polishing process to preserve its vivid color and transparency.

This discovery comes two years after the sale of a rare pink diamond described as "the most valuable and vibrant" for $34.8 million at a Sotheby's auction in New York, and it is estimated that the color of this new diamond falls within less than 4% of all pink diamonds in the world.
