Khaberni - The Bahraini Shura Council and House of Representatives approved today the law on press, printing, and publishing, and the Bahraini Minister of Information, Dr. Ramzan Al-Naemi, confirmed that the approval of the press, printing, and publishing law "represents an important national accomplishment that enhances the media sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and gives it a new impetus towards further development and professionalism."
The media project was prepared by former ministers, as well as the Bahraini Journalists Association and legal institutions that participated in the review of the legislation until it reached its final form, alongside the members of the legislative authority who approved the enactment of the law.
Al-Naemi explained in his intervention at the session of the Shura Council, which witnessed the approval of the new press law, that this law reflects the depth of partnership and integration between the legislative and executive authorities in completing major projects in the field of legislative development, as enacted by the visions of the Bahraini monarch, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and reinforcing the principles of the National Action Charter and the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bahrain in various legislations, to ensure the continuation of the process of legal and institutional modernization and development.
Furthermore, the minister confirmed that Bahraini media in the upcoming phase will experience cooperation and coordination to implement the provisions of the law after its endorsement and ratification by the king of the country, in addition to establishing clear mechanisms that translate its provisions into practical reality and decisions that regulate the media space — both print and electronic — in a more effective and responsible manner, and in a way that serves the purposeful media message in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
