The Mossad Claims Discovery of Iranian Plot Against Israeli Targets

Khaberni - The Israeli intelligence agency (Mossad) has accused the Iranian Revolutionary Guard of being behind attempts to attack Jewish and Israeli targets in several countries during 2024 and 2025.

The Mossad specifically named an officer in the Revolutionary Guard, Sardar Ammar, alleging he was behind this scheme.

According to a statement from the Israeli Prime Minister's office on behalf of the Mossad, conveyed by Israeli media outlets, Sardar Ammar, who operates under the command of Quds Force commander Ismail Qaani, oversaw a "network of covert operations that attempted to execute attacks in Australia, Greece, and Germany".

The statement claimed that the network employed a method of "terrorism without Iranian fingerprints" by "recruiting foreigners, using criminals, and encrypted communications", adding that "joint intelligence efforts with international partners led to the thwarting of dozens of plots and saved many lives".

The Mossad clarified that investigations demonstrated that this network was "directly responsible for the attempted attacks that had been uncovered in recent years", targeting "Israelis and Jews both inside and outside of Israel", noting that the operations were thwarted after the plan was uncovered and several individuals involved were arrested.

According to the "Jerusalem Post" newspaper in Israel, the Mossad also referred to a diplomatic crisis between Tehran and several Western countries, which it said was linked to the exposure of this network.

In August last year, Australia expelled the Iranian ambassador Ahmad Sadeghi and announced its intention to classify the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization after intelligence revealed Tehran's involvement in "anti-Semitic attacks" in Melbourne and Sydney, which the Iranian ambassador denied before leaving the country.

In Germany, Berlin summoned the Iranian ambassador Majid Neli Ahmadabadi in July after arresting a Danish citizen, accused of surveilling Jewish and Israeli sites in Berlin on behalf of Iran, warning that these activities might be preparations for attacks.

The Mossad described Iran's actions as "part of a prolonged campaign intended to retaliate against Israel by targeting civilians abroad while maintaining official denial", emphasizing that the recent disclosure "stripped Tehran of its ability to deny and imposed a significant diplomatic cost on it".

The statement noted that "Greece witnessed a similar pattern of operations, as the police arrested Iranians and Afghans in 2024 on charges of executing arson attacks targeting a hotel owned by Israelis and a synagogue in Athens", while "in 2023, authorities charged two Pakistanis involved in an Iranian scheme to target Jewish sites in the Greek capital".
