The Israeli Mossad, in a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, claimed to have exposed a network affiliated with Iran and involved in planning attacks against Israeli targets and Jewish targets in several countries, including Australia, Greece, and Germany, throughout 2024 and 2025.
The statement detailed that cooperation between the Mossad and local intelligence and security agencies in those countries led to the thwarting of “dozens of attempts” and the arrest of several suspects, indicating that investigations led to the identification of Iranian officials believed to be behind these activities.
According to the statement, one of the officials mentioned is Sardar Ammar, a commander in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, who is accused of managing a unit consisting of thousands of elements under the command of Quds Force leader Ismail Qaani.
Below is the statement from Shin Bet:
The Mossad unveils the Iranian terrorist network around the world and the responsible party
Prime Minister's Office, on behalf of the Mossad Special Intelligence and Operations Service:
From Australia to Europe: The discovery of the high-ranking Iranian official who planned terrorist attacks around the world and the wave of arrests that targeted his terrorist cells
Terrorism without an Iranian fingerprint, strict secrecy, recruitment of foreigners, use of criminals, and secret communications: This is how the “behind the scenes” of Iranian terrorism appears, and the hefty price Iran pays on the international stage as a result of its failure.
Amid ongoing attempts by the Iranian regime to carry out attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets around the world, the Mossad for the first time reveals new details about the officials behind these thwarted attempts during 2024–2025 in Australia, Greece, and Germany.
Since the events of October 7, Iran has intensified its efforts to target Israeli and Jewish targets around the world, but thanks to the intensive activity of the Mossad in cooperation with intelligence and security agencies inside and outside Israel, dozens of terrorist attempts orchestrated by Iran were thwarted, saving many lives and facilitating legal actions against those involved.
Extensive investigations revealed key Iranian figures managing terrorism mechanisms within the Iranian regime, and identified methods of these devices in executing attacks against civilians, costing Iran a high diplomatic price.
One of the prominent devices revealed for the first time is affiliated with Sardar Ammar, a high-ranking commander in the Revolutionary Guard who leads a unit of about 11,000 elements under the command of Ismail Qaani, commander of the Quds Force. This device is directly responsible for the attack attempts uncovered in Greece, Australia, and Germany over the past year, and its failure led to extensive arrests.
According to recent reports, authorities in Australia and Germany have taken strict diplomatic measures against Iranian officials, including expelling the Iranian ambassador from Australia and declaring him an “undesirable person,” and summoning the Iranian ambassador in Germany for a reprimand session.
For several years, the Iranian regime had used terrorism as a means to attack Israel without incurring military or economic costs, covertly managing terrorist operations and publicly denying any association with them.
The revelation of Sardar Ammar’s device standing behind the attack attempts in Europe and Australia proves Iran’s failure to maintain secrecy in its activities.
The ongoing international battle against Iranian terrorism strips Iran of its denial cover, lifts its immunity, and forces it to pay hefty prices on the global diplomatic stage.
The Mossad and its partners in Israel and around the world will continue to work resolutely to thwart Iranian terrorism threats and protect Israeli citizens and Jewish communities worldwide.
