Khaberni - Caroline Wilmen, the project coordinator for Doctors Without Borders in Gaza, stated that despite the ceasefire agreement, Israel continues to use humanitarian aid as leverage against the Palestinians.
Wilmen confirmed in a press statement on Sunday that humanitarian aid sent to the Gaza Strip should not be tied to any political conditions.
She explained that Israeli attacks on the enclave have significantly decreased since the start of the ceasefire implementation, but the Israeli military launched a major attack on October 19, while continuing to fire almost daily.
She pointed out that the humanitarian conditions in Gaza have not improved much, as water and shelter shortages remain, and hundreds of thousands are still living in tents with the approach of winter.
She highlighted that the organization's teams continue to record severe malnutrition cases among children under the age of five and pregnant women, and the food situation remains concerning despite a slight improvement.
She also said that providing daily health services is still very difficult despite the ceasefire.
She continued: "Palestinians in Gaza have been living in terror of genocide for two years, we urgently need aid just to ensure that people can sleep on a mattress and a blanket inside their tents, and reconstructing Gaza will take a long time, but we have not yet reached the minimum basic humanitarian conditions in the sector."
