Khaberni - Syrian security authorities have disclosed the details of a fictitious kidnapping incident featuring a young woman from the countryside near Masyaf, who fabricated the story to financially extort her family, before the investigation uncovered the truth and brought down the participants.
The Syrian news agency quoted Brigadier General Ibrahim Al-Mawas, Director of Internal Security, saying that investigations began following a report of the young woman's disappearance, which led cameras and inquiries to pinpoint her location in a house on the outskirts of Masyaf.
After raiding the location, the young woman was caught with two individuals found in possession of narcotics and a personal weapon. It was revealed that she had conspired with them to carry out a fictitious kidnapping to defraud her family.
The security official confirmed that all involved parties were referred to the competent judiciary to complete legal proceedings.
