Khaberni - U.S. President Donald Trump said he would consider cutting tariffs on Brazil if the appropriate conditions were met.
Trump's comments came to reporters last Friday aboard the presidential plane while he was en route to Malaysia to attend a regional summit.
Trump had raised tariffs on most U.S. imports of Brazilian goods from 10% to 50% in early August, saying that this move was in response to what he described as a "vicious campaign" targeting former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
In remarks in Kuala Lumpur, the current Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said he was optimistic about reaching an agreement with Trump.
He added to reporters, "It all depends on the dialogue, and I am working optimistically that we will be able to find a solution."
