Bayern Munich Continues Its Record Winning Streak

Khaberni - Bayern Munich continued its record consecutive winning streak, raising it to 13 in various competitions and eight in the Bundesliga when it overcame host Borussia Mönchengladbach, who were reduced to ten men, 3-0 on Saturday in the eighth round of the German football championship.

The Bavarian club struggled to secure the three points, even though its host played with ten players from the 19th minute after South Korean midfielder Yenz Kastrub was sent off for a strong challenge on Colombian international winger Luis Dias, and waited until the last half hour to score three goals through their captain Yozua Kimmich (64), Portuguese Rafael Guerreiro (69) and promising substitute Linart Karl, aged 147 years old (81).

English international striker Harry Kane, who tops the scoring list with 12 goals, failed to score for only the second time this season, and had a goal disallowed in the 62nd minute for offside after reviewing video assistant referee "VAR".

Austrian midfielder Kevin Stoger missed a penalty for the home team in the 75th minute.

Bayern Munich reinforced their lead with a perfect record of 24 points, maintaining a five-point gap over their closest pursuer, Leipzig, who returned with a big win over their host Augsburg by a clean half dozen goals, while Borussia Mönchengladbach suffered their fifth loss this season, freezing their points at three from three draws, remaining last in the standings, and the only team not to have won yet.

Kimmich gave Bayern the lead when he received a pass from Serge Gnabry inside the area and shot a grounded ball that hit defender Janik Englehardt and recurred before him, then he shot it with his left foot into the distant left corner of goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas (64).

Guerreiro added the second goal when he received a ball behind the defense inside the area from French international winger Mickael Olise and shot it into the goal (69).

Mönchengladbach was awarded a penalty following a return to "VAR" after defender Kevin Diks was fouled by midfielder Tom Bischoff after a corner kick, Stoger stepped up for it but hit the right post of goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, who was played by coach Belgian Vincent Kompany primarily over the giant Manuel Neuer sitting on the subs bench (75).

Karl, substitute for Dias, enhanced the Bavarian club’s lead with a third goal with a powerful wonderful left-footed shot from outside the area that hit the far right corner of goalkeeper Nicolas (81).

This was Karl’s first goal in the Bundesliga having also scored his first in the Champions League competition earlier in the week when he opened the scoring in the match against Club Brugge (4-0).
