Khaberni - Finally, after many questions, inquiries, and analyses, Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, reveals his club's stance on the Gaza war and facing Israeli clubs in European competitions.
Laporta summarized his club's stance on the two issues that have become a focal point in global sports with three words: "peace, dialogue, and coexistence".
Even when asked about Russia and its participation in sports competitions, Laporta adhered to these three words.
It was understood from Laporta's position that he "evaded" the questions posed to him during participation in a seminar.
In February 2023, Laporta invited representatives of the Israeli Embassy in Spain to attend a Barcelona vs Manchester United match in the European football league, following the decision by the mayor of Barcelona to sever ties with Israel.
Laporta sent a message of support to Israel, after the Barcelona city council announced it would sever relations with Israel and end the twinning agreement with Tel Aviv.
Laporta invited representatives of the Israeli Embassy in Spain to a football match against Manchester United and presented the embassy representatives with Barcelona shirts.
At a ceremony held before the match, Laporta emphasized "the club's long-term commitment to outstanding relations with the state of Israel and the Israeli people."
The Israeli diplomats presented Laporta with the Israeli flag and thanked him for years of support "for Israel, friendship, and joint activity in building a bridge between nations through sport."
