Khaberni - The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced that the Criminal Investigation Department in Damascus governorate apprehended three armed brothers involved in an armed assault inside the Faculty of Arts at Damascus University in the Mezzeh area.
A statement from the ministry clarified that the initial report was received by the department after an assault incident on the faculty dean and several faculty members inside the dean's office.
The statement indicated that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to committing the assault, noting that the motive was related to a previous dispute concerning a doctoral thesis belonging to their sister.
During the incident, the assailants threatened those present with weapons, an act described by the Ministry as "a blatant violation of laws and regulations within the university campus."
The statement added that the investigative documents were prepared in accordance with legal procedures, and the detainees will be referred to the public prosecutor in Damascus to complete the judicial proceedings against them.
The Criminal Investigation Department emphasized that any assault on educational institutions or their academic staff is considered a serious transgression, stressing that such actions "will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the provisions of the law."
