Shocking surprise French museum robbed hours after Louvre jewelry heist

Khaberni - A second French museum was robbed just hours after the theft of jewelry from the Louvre Museum, valued at approximately 88 million euros, in a new incident that further shocked the French cultural community.

Local officials announced that the "Maison de Lumière" museum in Langer city was subjected to a sophisticated theft, targeting about two thousand gold and silver coins, some of which date back over two centuries.

The theft occurred on Sunday, on the same day the Louvre operation took place, but the workers discovered it two days later when they arrived on Tuesday morning to find one of the display cabinets shattered.

According to preliminary investigations, the operation was carried out with great professionalism, as the thieves managed to steal artifacts dating back to 1790, valued at more than 100,000 British pounds.

These coins are part of a rare collection discovered in 2011 during renovation works of the museum dedicated to French philosopher Denis Diderot, and experts fear that these coins could be melted down and sold as precious metals, which would complicate the process of tracking them down.

This incident comes hours after a major theft inside the Louvre Museum in Paris, where two masked men early Sunday entered the famous Apollo Gallery, using a mechanical crane, and managed to steal historic jewels described as "the French Crown Jewels" within 7 minutes.

Investigations showed that the perpetrators left behind about 150 DNA samples and fingerprints on a helmet, gloves, and a stolen truck, which they tried to burn before fleeing on two motorcycles.

Paris prosecutor Laure Beccu said that the analysis of biological evidence is a priority, confirming that surveillance cameras enabled tracking the escape route outside the capital. She added that the investigation is being conducted under the crime of "theft and criminal conspiracy" by a highly professional organized gang.

Officials worry that these consecutive crimes could be part of a wave targeting French museums, after a recent series of similar incidents involving the Natural History Museum in Paris and the National Porcelain Museum in Limoges.
