Khaberni - Several smartphones in Jordan will automatically adjust their time from daylight saving to standard time next Friday, which could cause confusion among users, especially with the ongoing controversy over the 2025 winter time in Jordan.
The government establishes summer time all year round
An official source confirmed that the government will not backtrack on the decision to set summer time in Jordan (GMT +3), adopted by the Khasawneh government, adding that the operation on summer time will continue as it is, since the decision to cancel winter time in 2025.
Reason for the problem of automatic time setting on smartphones
The problem of the time changing automatically on some devices is due to the programming of smartphones that rely on two systems for timing: daylight saving and standard. Despite Jordan adopting daylight saving time all year round, some old phones automatically adjust to standard time due to their previous settings.
It is worth mentioning that some phones of the same model are affected by this problem, while other phones display the correct time, depending on the operating system updates for each device.
Ways to solve the time change issue on smartphones
Restarting the phone: This simple step often solves the problem of automatic timing adjustment.
Updating the operating system: It is recommended to update the phone to the latest available version, as updates contain corrections for setting the time correctly.
Manual time adjustment: If the issue is not resolved by the previous two steps, the clock can be manually adjusted to the correct summer time (GMT +3). The steps for adjustment vary between phones, but almost all smartphones provide this option.
