Khaberni - A new tragic incident occurred in the state of Odisha, India, where a 15-year-old boy was run over by a train while filming a video on a railway line in the city of Puri.
According to Indian media, the accident occurred last Tuesday at Janakdvpur station, when the boy, Vishwajeet Saha, a resident of Mangalaghat, was returning from a visit to the Dakshinkali temple with his mother. On the way back, he stopped near the railway to film a short clip to share on social media.
A video found on his phone captured moments of the boy filming himself while trains passed by at high speed from the opposite direction, before the camera fell to the ground due to the strong wind caused by the passing train, at the moment of fatal impact.
The railway police in Odisha quickly arrived at the accident site upon receiving the report, where the boy's body was found and taken to the hospital for forensic medical examination.
This incident brings to mind a similar tragedy that occurred last August, when a 22-year-old man named Sagar Todo from Berhampur in Ganjam district disappeared after being swept away by the waters of the Dodoma falls in Koraput district, while filming for his YouTube channel using a "drone".
According to investigations, the young man had visited the area with his friend Abhijit Behera to film scenic views, but the local authorities' release of water from the Machkund dam due to heavy rain led to a sudden rise in water levels, causing him to be swept away by the current despite tourists' attempts to save him, and despite intensive search operations by rescue and civil defense teams, he was not found.
These incidents highlight the increasing spread of dangerous filming phenomena in India, which have claimed the lives of many young people and teenagers while attempting to capture exciting and engaging shots for social media.
