Khaberni - Qatar reaffirmed that the success of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement is a collective responsibility to ensure its implementation, which leads to a comprehensive cessation of the war and the achievement of peace and stability in the region, in full compliance with the principles of the Charter and international law.
This was stated in a statement by Qatar, delivered by the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, Sheikha Aliya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, at the quarterly open debate of the Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, including the question of Palestine, at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
She explained that the meeting came after the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit on October 13, pointing to the participation of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in the signing ceremonies of the agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip, along with US President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
She added that Qatar continued over the past two years the mediation efforts it had exerted in partnership with Egypt and the US, and despite the challenges and obstacles, an agreement was reached that puts an end to bloodshed and human suffering in the Gaza Strip.
She pointed out that this mediation succeeded over the past period in achieving humanitarian truces that contributed to reducing suffering by delivering humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, and releasing prisoners and detainees.
