The White House after Demolition Without the East Wing

Khaberni - It has become barely possible to distinguish the facade of the East Wing of the White House as demolition work continues on this part of the American decision-making fortress.

The American network "CNN" published satellite images taken of the White House in October 2024 showing the structure compared to yesterday morning, Thursday, after the entire East Wing was demolished.

In one year, the images showed significant changes since the demolition of the East Wing of the White House last Monday, where President Donald Trump added a $200 million, 90,000-square-foot ballroom.

The images previously released by the White House showed that the ballroom, which the Trump administration said would be funded by him and other private sector donors, would be built in this area.

White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt said during the summer that the ballroom would occupy the space of the East Wing, where the First Ladies used to have their offices.

According to the network, this project fulfills a 15-year ambition of the American president to build a ballroom on the grounds of the White House, which increases the building's recreational capacity and simultaneously resembles the gilded spaces of his private clubs.

Trump said when signing the demolition order last July: "The modification will not interfere with the existing building. It won't happen. It will be adjacent to it, but it will not touch it."

American officials noted that the ballroom will replace the East Wing, pointing to the numerous changes that had occurred to the structure long before Trump took office.
