Khaberni - A video circulating on social media platforms has sparked widespread controversy in Egypt in recent hours, after it documented a driver working for smart transport applications assaulting a girl with an electric wire in the South Lotus area of the Fifth Settlement, east of Cairo, then trying to run her over with his car.
According to the circulating video, captured by surveillance cameras of a residential building, the driver violently attacked the girl for canceling the trip on the app, and attempted to run her over.
First comment
In the first comment from the victim's family, the girl’s brother told local media that her name is "Nada Kamel", and that she was beaten by an In Drive driver for canceling the trip, noting that an official report was lodged with the public prosecutor's office and New Cairo Police, and the video of the incident was submitted to them.
On its part, the Egyptian Interior Ministry's security forces announced that they are examining the circulating video to identify the suspect and apprehend him, and to take the necessary legal actions against him.
