Khaberni - The Securities Authority confirmed today, Thursday, that the project of the licensing system for virtual asset service providers for the year 2025 is in its final stages and is expected to be issued soon, especially after the approval of the Cabinet in its session held yesterday, Wednesday, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan on the rationale for the system's project and the progress in the adoption procedures in accordance with established norms.
The system project, based on the effective law regulating the handling of virtual assets, aligns with the tasks and programs of the Future Technology Council, which was formed by the Prime Minister under directives from His Majesty King Abdullah II, and is closely followed by His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince.
This decision represents an ambitious qualitative leap aimed at launching a secure and attractive digital work environment for investments, and enabling Jordanian youth interested in this field, especially since a number of the leading virtual asset platforms in the region were established by Jordanians, where investors will be able to deal with licensed and official local platforms, providing them with a higher level of security and legal protection instead of resorting to unregulated external platforms.
Furthermore, the Authority confirmed that this step comes as part of the efforts to issue and update a package of related legislation, systems, and instructions to be in accordance with the law regulating the handling of virtual assets, which was issued in line with the economic modernization vision and national efforts to enhance the national economy, where, since the Parliament's approval of the law, the Authority began forming specialized committees aimed at preparing the regulatory projects and instructions stipulated by the law.
In line with the principle of participatory governance, the Securities Authority offered the opportunity to review the project of the system to all followers of its website and all related parties, and previously received all opinions, proposals, and consultations through the "Khaberni" governmental platform, and a committee was formed to study them and put forth its recommendations.
