Khaberni - Dubai Health Authority announced the performance of more than 145 successful robotic surgeries at Dubai Hospital, since the launch of the robotic surgery program in the second half of 2022, in a step that embodies its commitment to employing the latest advanced medical technologies to serve patients and ensure the continuation of the development process, aiming to enhance the quality of healthcare.

The Executive Director of Dubai Health Authority, Dr. Amer Sharif, said: "This success represents a qualitative step in the journey of digital transformation of our health system, stemming from our firm commitment to employing the latest solutions and advanced medical technologies to develop healthcare services, which enhances our vision in improving human health."

He confirmed that Dubai Health Authority, within its integrated academic health system, is steadily progressing in developing its digital system across all its hospitals and health centers, and enabling its medical staff to harness these advanced technologies, with the aim of making the patient experience easier and safer, thereby consolidating Dubai's position as a leading destination for advanced healthcare and supporting the pledge: Patient First.

For his part, the consultant urologist and director of the robotic surgery program at Dubai Health Authority, and the assistant professor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, which is the learning and discovery arm of Dubai Health Authority, Dr. Yasser Al Saeedi stated that robotic surgeries at Dubai Health Authority represent an advanced stage of employing smart technologies in the operating rooms, which has contributed to enhancing the accuracy of surgical procedures, improving patient safety and improving surgical outcomes.

He emphasized that robotic surgeries have proven their high effectiveness compared to traditional surgical procedures, especially in terms of reducing blood loss by more than 90%, alongside shortening recovery periods, reducing complications, and significantly decreasing pain, making it a safer and more precise treatment option, which contributes to enhancing patient experience and speeding up their return to normal life.

Dr. Al Saeedi mentioned that all specialized surgeries conducted over the past three years have shown advanced clinical results, including reducing patient hospital stays from two weeks to less than three days, and confirmed that training medical staff on using smart technologies in surgeries is ongoing, to ensure procedures are performed with the highest safety standards and minimal health risks.

Robotic surgeries at Dubai Health Authority are performed through small incisions in the body, covering multiple specialties, most notably urology, general surgery, and gynecology, using the latest smart surgery systems that provide surgeons with high-resolution three-dimensional vision and precise interaction with tissues through a sophisticated control unit directing precise robotic arms inside the body.
