Khaberni - The Head of the Cyber Crimes Prosecution stated that the Third Minor Criminal Court in Bahrain issued yesterday a verdict condemning the accused for misusing his account on social media platforms by posting content that violates public morals and the prevailing moral values in society, and infringes upon human dignity. The court sentenced him to one month imprisonment and the confiscation of the mobile phone used in committing the crime.

The Public Prosecution initiated the investigation into the incident immediately after receiving a report from the Cyber Crime Control Department at the General Directorate for Combating Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security at the Ministry of Interior, which monitored visually published content on the accused’s publicly available social media account which was legally significant for violating the prevailing moral values in society and sound human nature. Subsequently, the accused was arrested by order of the prosecution and referred to the court, which then issued the aforementioned verdict.

In this regard, the Head of the Cyber Crimes Prosecution confirmed that the Public Prosecution is proceeding with taking deterrent legal measures to protect cyberspace from content that violates established morals and customs in the Kingdom of Bahrain. She pointed out that crimes affecting social norms and values require resolute confrontation, a task the Public Prosecution shares alongside the security forces and relevant authorities. She also emphasized the necessity of preserving the digital environment from abusive uses and manifestations of moral degradation.
