Khaberni - Media reports confirmed that the Austrian David Alaba is at a crucial stage in his career with Real Madrid, as the veteran defender seeks to renew his contract with "the royal team".
Sky Network mentioned that sources indicate the club's management does not seem enthusiastic about extending their association with him beyond 2026, the end of his current contract.
It added: "David Alaba, who joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 coming from Bayern Munich, still enjoys great appreciation inside the locker room and is considered one of the influential leaders and holds a strong presence among his teammates, alongside widespread respect from the technical staff led by Carlo Ancelotti."
It continued: "His calm personality and extensive experience have made him one of the moral pillars of the team, especially during the critical stages of the season."
It further stated: "According to sources close to the club, Real Madrid's management has begun to redraw its defensive plans for the coming seasons, with an increased focus on rejuvenating and introducing young elements capable of leading the back line in the near future. This approach may make the renewal of Alaba's contract unlikely, despite his technical and leadership stature."
It went on: "Technically, Alaba has delivered a balanced performance since his move to the Spanish capital, having played efficiently both as a central defender and left-back, contributing to the team’s triumph in several titles, including the Champions League and the Spanish League. However, frequent injuries and his relatively advancing age have become factors affecting the sports management decisions that prefer building a long-term project around players like Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, and other young names being scouted."
It concluded: "Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Alaba remains committed to his responsibilities within the team and keen on maintaining his level, reaffirming on multiple occasions his happiness playing for Real Madrid, though the coming months might be crucial in determining whether he will continue his journey at Santiago Bernabeu or seek a new challenge in his European career."
