Video of Prisoners Threatening Sarkozy French Police Interrogate 3

Khaberni - While former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has become the first president in France to be imprisoned, videos have spread in recent hours on social platforms capturing the rising voices of prisoners calling out Sarkozy at night, directing insults and threats at him.

A clip, apparently filmed by one of the prisoners, showed insults and threats directed at Sarkozy upon his arrival at the prison.

This led the police to take custody of three prisoners in "La Santé" prison in the capital Paris due to alleged threats against the former president.

An investigation has been opened
The public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into death threats, and a search operation was conducted during which two mobile phones were seized. Yesterday, Wednesday, the Paris prosecutor's office said that Sarkozy was targeted with death threats by a prisoner at La Santé prison.

The office stated in a report, "Yesterday, the prosecutor's office received a report from the director of La Santé prison about a video circulated on social media, clearly filmed by one of the prisoners, where threats were made upon Sarkozy's arrival at the facility." It added that three prisoners were interrogated in the investigation, and two phones were seized during a prison search, according to "Reuters".

Sarkozy, aged 70, who led France from 2007 to 2012, began serving a five-year prison sentence on Tuesday after being convicted of participating in a criminal organization related to his alleged campaign financing from the late Libyan Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.

His lawyer clarified that the former president is held in a particularly isolated and secured area within the prison, ensuring no preferential treatment is received, and that a request for parole has been submitted.
