Jordan condemns the Knessets approval of the West Bank annexation project

Khaberni - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset's preliminary reading approval of two bills, one targeting the imposition of Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank, while the other aims to legitimize Israeli sovereignty over one of the illegal colonial settlements; considering it a blatant violation of international law, undermining the two-state solution and the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to establish their independent sovereign state along the June 4, 1967 lines with its capital in occupied Jerusalem, emphasizing that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory.

The official spokesman for the Ministry, Fouad Al-Majali, confirmed the Kingdom's absolute rejection and strong condemnation of any Israeli attempts to impose sovereignty over the occupied West Bank in flagrant violation of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions, especially resolution 2334 which condemns all Israeli actions aimed at altering the demographic composition, character, and status of the occupied Palestinian territory since 1967, including East Jerusalem, in addition to the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice which affirmed the illegality of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land and the invalidity of the settlements and annexation procedures of the West Bank occupied territories.

Al-Majali warned against the continuous Israeli unilateral illegitimate policies that violate international law and related United Nations resolutions, reaffirming that all Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank and violations of Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem are illegitimate and illegal.

Al-Majali called on the international community to take up its legal and moral responsibilities, and to compel Israel to stop its dangerous escalation and illegitimate actions in the occupied West Bank, and to meet the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on their national soil; as the only way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region.
