Khaberni - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli Knesset's preliminary approval of two legislative bills, one aiming to impose Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank, and the other aiming to legitimize Israeli sovereignty on one of the illegal colonial settlements; considering this a blatant violation of international law, undermining the two-state solution and the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to determine their fate and establish their independent sovereign state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, emphasizing that Israel has no sovereignty over the Palestinian territories occupied.
The official spokesperson of the Ministry, Fouad Al-Majali, emphasized the Kingdom's absolute rejection and strong condemnation of any Israeli attempts to impose sovereignty over the occupied West Bank as a blatant violation of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly resolution 2334 which condemns all Israeli actions aimed at changing the demographic composition and the character and status of the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, in addition to the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice which confirmed the illegality of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and the invalidity of the settlements and annexing West Bank territories.
Al-Majali warned against the continuation of Israel's unilateral illegitimate policies that violate international law and relevant UN resolutions, reiterating that all Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank and violations of Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem are illegitimate and illegal.
Al-Majali called on the international community to assume its legal and ethical responsibilities, to compel Israel to stop its dangerous escalation and illegitimate actions in the occupied West Bank, and to fulfill the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on their national soil; as the only way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region.
