Khaberni - To encourage investment in the agricultural sector, the Cabinet approved in its session held today, Wednesday, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, a revised system for leasing agricultural units and other lands in the Jordan Valley for the year 2025.
The system aims to encourage investment in the agricultural sector, expand the base of beneficiaries among citizens and institutions to participate in agricultural activity, and to support emerging projects and developmental initiatives.
The system considers the principle of equality and equal opportunities in the investment of agricultural units, and exempts certain special cases from the conditions related to leasing areas or others, given the existence of cases requiring areas exceeding the maximum limit set in the system within large agricultural investments, aimed at revitalizing the agricultural sector and providing job opportunities for the local community members.
The project is likely to contribute to expanding the base of beneficiaries and supporting emerging projects and developmental initiatives, and achieving flexibility in application to ensure harmony with developmental orientations, opening up investment prospects, and facilitating conditions to achieve the success of integrated investment projects in the Jordan Valley area such as contractual farming, and renewable energy stations linked to agriculture.
The project also aims to contribute to the development of the Wadi Araba region to facilitate and foster developmental initiatives that meet aspirations and enable local residents to benefit from these initiatives, creating more job opportunities, and contributing to achieving food security.
The system also aims to establish controls that ensure the public interest and the achievement of agricultural and economic development requirements through a transparent mechanism that takes into account the specificity of each project and its feasibility in line with the economic modernization vision and the strategic plans for the water sector.
