The Cabinet has decided in its session held today, Wednesday, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, to approve the reasons for the bill ratifying the executive agreement for the assessment, development, and exploitation of gold and associated minerals in the Abu Khasheeba area between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Wadi Araba Minerals Company, and the license for exploration, development, operation, and production of gold and associated minerals and their marketing by Wadi Araba Minerals Company for the year 2025; to complete the legal and constitutional procedures for the agreement according to the established norms.

The bill is in compliance with the provisions of Article 117 of the Jordanian Constitution, which states that any concession granted to exploit mines, minerals, or public utilities must be ratified by law, and also in execution of the provisions of Article 9 of the Natural Resources Law No. 19 of 2018, which states that the ratification of the production sharing agreement or the executive agreements and the granted license must be in accordance with the provisions of Article 117 of the Constitution.

The agreement is part of the government's efforts to support investment in the mining sector and natural resources, thereby enhancing its contribution to supporting the national economy, developing local communities, providing employment opportunities, alongside enhancing the competitiveness of the local product, and reducing dependence on traditional sources.
