Khaberni - The Bani Sakhr tribe held a meeting discussing the developments of the brawl that took place inside the Jordan University, emphasizing that what happened was an individual incident that does not represent the values of the Jordanian tribes, and does not affect the historic fraternal relations with the Ajarmeh tribe, and reaffirming the tribe's commitment to preserving the reputation of educational institutions and their support for a reform and tolerance approach instead of harsh punishments.
The meeting concluded with a set of demands, the most prominent of which are:
1. Temporary suspension of dismissal decisions until the official investigations are concluded.
2. Mitigation of punishments for students considering their youth and because the incident did not exceed the student framework.
3. Formation of an official oversight committee consisting of tribal elders, lawyers, and parents to coordinate with the university administration.
4. Calling on the university to calm the situation and adopt a reform approach instead of punishment.
5. Bailing out the detained students and monitoring their legal and academic status to ensure their return to their studies.
The statement concluded by affirming that the Bani Sakhr tribe supports the education journey and stands by state institutions, adheres to national unity, and rejects violence, praying to God to protect Jordan and its leadership.
The following is the text of the statement:
The final statement of the Bani Sakhr tribe meeting regarding the incident at the Jordan University
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Almighty said:
"And let them pardon and overlook. Would you not like that Allah should forgive you? And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful." [Quran 24:22]
Truthful is God the Great
Out of its national and social responsibility, and keen to preserve our educational institutions and their reputation, the Bani Sakhr tribe follows with great interest what recently transpired from a brawl inside the Jordan University among a group of students, which we see as a transient individual incident that does not represent the genuine values and high morals of the noble Jordanian tribes.
Believing deeply in the fraternal and historical relations that connect the Bani Sakhr tribe and the Ajarmeh tribe, which are based on mutual respect, bonds of blood, companionship and the common national stance, the Bani Sakhr tribe affirms that what happened cannot affect this longstanding and deep-rooted relation in the authentic Jordanian history, and that this relation remains a model of cohesion and national unity among the Jordanian tribes.
Starting from these values and principles, the Bani Sakhr tribe confirms the following:
Firstly:
We demand the freezing of dismissal decisions temporarily until the official investigations are concluded and their final results are issued, in pursuit of justice and preserving the future of the students.
Secondly:
We ask the administration of the Jordan University to lessen the punishment imposed on the students from our tribe, taking into consideration their young age and because the incident did not exceed its student context, in alignment with the principle of educational justice that preserves the future of the students and favors the spirit of reform over punishment.
Thirdly:
We call for the establishment of an official oversight committee including leaders, elders, parents, and lawyers from the Bani Sakhr tribe, to follow up on the case proceedings with the university administration and related entities, ensuring that all students are treated with justice and fairness.
Fourthly:
We invite the presidency of the Jordan University to calm the situation and implement a reform and tolerance approach instead of harsh punishments, preserving the university's reputation and the cohesion of its student community, and ensuring that our educational institutions remain beacons of knowledge, ethics, and responsibility.
Fifthly:
To work on bailing out the students who were detained on the backdrop of the events, and to follow up on their legal and student status, ensuring their return to their study seats, and reinforcing the principle that reform is more important than punishment, and that mistakes should be met not with exclusion but with correction and care.
In conclusion, the Bani Sakhr tribe confirms that it has been and will remain supportive of the education journey, supportive of state institutions, and keen on national unity and rejecting violence in all its forms, asking Almighty God to preserve Jordan and maintain peace and security under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, may God protect and keep him.
