Khaberni - The Public Food and Drug Authority, in collaboration with the Royal Administration for Environmental Protection in the capital region, closed a non-compliant factory and its external operator producing unqualified plates and cardboard products for the special requirements concerning materials intended for contact with food.
The Authority clarified in a press release that the factory did not have the necessary official approvals from the Authority for the production of packaging materials intended for food contact, in addition to not meeting health requirements and general cleanliness standards, indicating that approximately two tons of non-compliant packaging materials had been seized.
The Authority urges citizens to ensure that the food package or wrapping has a food type indication or the "cup and fork" symbol, which confirms that the product is safe for food contact, pointing out that the food is considered unfit for consumption if the package containing it is made of materials not intended for contact with food.
The Authority invites communication in case of any observation, inquiry, or complaint through their toll-free complaint line 117114, email address [email protected], and via WhatsApp at the number (0795632000).
