Khaberni - On Tuesday, Interior Minister Mazen al-Faraya called on European countries to open legal migration channels for skilled workers from Jordan in sectors such as information technology and health.
This occurred during al-Faraya's participation in the tenth edition of the Vienna Migration Conference, held this year in the Austrian capital, Vienna, amid increasing challenges facing neighboring countries amidst escalating regional crises and the continuous influx of refugees.
Al-Faraya also called for increased funding to support refugees in light of limited support, noting that funding for the 2025 Syrian Crisis Response Plan has only reached 12%.
Al-Faraya emphasized the necessity of achieving stability in Syria as the fundamental solution to reducing migration and ensuring regional peace.
Al-Faraya participated in the activities of the tenth edition of the Vienna Migration Conference, which is held this year in the Austrian capital, Vienna, amid increasing challenges facing neighboring countries amidst escalating regional crises and the continuous influx of refugees.
Al-Faraya commenced his participation with a meeting with his Austrian counterpart, Gerhard Karner, where the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and security cooperation, and support the voluntary return of Syrian refugees.
Al-Faraya reviewed Jordan's efforts in hosting refugees, providing quality education and health care services, and affirmed Jordan's commitment to creating suitable conditions for their return.
He also expressed his gratitude to the European Union and Austria for their continued support.
Al-Faraya also met with Swedish Migration Minister Gunn Forsell, and the meeting focused on the readiness of the Ministry of Interior and its various agencies to utilize their human, technical, and operational capabilities to stabilize the state of Syria and develop its diverse agencies and administration, and to advance its developmental journey.
