Khaberni - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources confirmed that the Jordan Petroleum Refinery in Zarqa received 117,182 barrels of Iraqi crude oil, from the 11th to the 19th of October, as part of the continuation of the previous memorandum of understanding signed between the governments of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Republic of Iraq, which was extended on September 17th.
According to the memorandum, this measure is to complete the quantities that were not loaded in the past period for logistical reasons, as loading resumed on October 5th and will continue until January 31st, 2025, until the agreed quantities are completed, ensuring the continuity of supplying the kingdom with part of its crude oil needs as per the understandings agreed upon by both sides.
The ministry also confirmed that discussions are ongoing with the Iraqi side to extend or renew the memorandum of understanding for an additional year after its expiration on June 26, 2025, with the same terms and specifications as the previous agreement, enhancing the joint cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries.
This step is part of strengthening the ongoing cooperation between Jordan and Iraq in the energy sector, consolidating economic relations between the two brotherly countries, serving mutual interests, and contributing to achieving energy security for the kingdom.
