Khaberni - In a surprising return after an absence of more than 12 years, Syrian artist Yara Sabri is preparing to participate in her first Ramadan drama filmed inside Syria, after years of distancing herself from local drama due to her opposition to the regime of former President Bashar al-Assad.
The anticipated work, titled "Lobby Al-Gharam," is set for Ramadan 2026 and revolves around a social comedy framework.
The project brings together Yara Sabri with a group of prominent stars from Lebanese and Syrian drama, including Mutasim Al Nahar, Pamela El Kik, and Jessy Abdo. It is written by Menna Fawzi and Jimmy Bou Eid, directed by Joe Bou Eid, and produced by Jamal Sanan.
The work presents a blend of lightness and realism in a format that combines comedy and romance.
In turn, director Joe Bou Eid announced the start of filming via a post on his Instagram account, showing the clapperboard on set, indicating that the fourth scene had started filming on October 17th, with the caption: "Off we go".
Yara Sabri had revealed to Khaberni 24, a few weeks ago, her participation in the Ramadan drama season of 2026, having read several scripts offered to her, but had not yet decided on her participation in any of them.
She also revealed her preparation for two drama series to be aired before the end of this year 2025 on various digital platforms, which represent the beginning of her return to the embrace of Syrian art again from home soil.
Regarding the first work, Yara mentioned that it is a unique "quintet" named "A Day and a Bit," which addresses the Syrian reality through the story of a grieving family overcoming sectarianism and dislocation.
Concerning the second series, she mentioned that it is named "The Last Seat," consisting of 15 episodes to be aired before the end of this year on one of the digital platforms as well.
