Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II, in Slovenia today, Monday, held two separate meetings with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on the sidelines of the "MED 9" summit of Southern European countries, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince.
His Majesty emphasized the necessity to ensure commitment to the agreement to end the war in Gaza and to intensify efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to all areas of the sector.
His Majesty the King warned of the dangers of continuing unilateral actions against Palestinians in the West Bank, and plans for expanding settlements and annexing lands.
His Majesty, during his meeting with the President of the European Commission, pointed to the importance of sustaining coordination with the European Union regarding developments in the region, serving mutual interests and achieving security and stability.
The meeting addressed ways to expand cooperation between Jordan and the European Union in various fields, especially in establishing major joint projects.
During his meeting with the Prime Minister of Greece, His Majesty the King affirmed Jordan’s continued role, religious and historical, in the guardianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, deriving from the Hashemite custodianship over them.
