Khaberni - The Public Security Directorate launched today, Monday, the awareness campaign "Safe Winter," in conjunction with the approaching winter season, with the aim of enhancing the culture of prevention and public safety, and minimizing the risks resulting from weather conditions, and preserving the security and safety of citizens and their properties.
The Public Security Directorate affirmed that the campaign comes in conformity with its preventive approach in dealing with various weather conditions, by harnessing all human and logistical capabilities, and activating joint coordination between its formations and field units, in addition to enhancing partnership with ministries and related national institutions.
During an appearance on Public Security Radio, Civil Defense Director Brigadier Nasser Al-Swailmiyen explained that the campaign was directed by the Director of Public Security, within the framework of the directorate's responsibility as a first responder to incidents and risks that may accompany the winter season, emphasizing that efforts are focused on managing the field situation with high professionalism, through precise operational plans based on assessment, monitoring, and immediate response to incidents.
Brigadier Al-Swailmiyen added that the civil defense teams have started to increase readiness and preparedness in all field centers, and update emergency plans for dealing with floods, landslides, and traffic accidents resulting from weather conditions, confirming that the readiness of vehicles and heavy equipment, especially rescue, firefighting, and diving vehicles, are subject to periodic maintenance and continuous monitoring to ensure rapid response, and he called on citizens to follow public safety instructions, ensure the suitability of heating devices, and not hesitate to call the emergency number (911) when needed.
In the same context, Director of Traffic Department Brigadier Raed Al-Assaf stated that reducing traffic accidents and providing a safe traffic environment are among the main goals of the campaign, pointing out that intensive awareness programs will be implemented in cooperation with the Media Management and Community Police before starting the vehicle inspection campaign on November 1, 2025.
Brigadier Al-Assaf added that vehicles will be technically inspected by traffic departments, in coordination with the Royal Environmental Protection Administration and technical teams from the Maintenance Department, to ensure their readiness for winter conditions, clarifying that if there are technical observations, the vehicle is granted a week's grace period to rectify its status before issuing the violation through reviewing traffic departments and mobile evening licensing departments, while vehicles passing the technical inspection will receive a special card to prove the technical inspection clearance.
The Director of Traffic Department indicated that an "sms" message will be sent to all drivers whose vehicles have been inspected, detailing the technical condition of the vehicle, as they can learn about the technical parts of the vehicle that will be inspected through a "QR" code that will be placed on the campaign's notification paper.
The Public Security Directorate, through the Media Management and Community Police in cooperation with the specialized departments, is preparing to launch a package of awareness programs and messages in the coming days, to guide citizens towards proper behaviors during the winter season, and to avoid risks resulting from weather conditions, in order to preserve their safety and the safety of others.
