Khaberni - A fisherman spent a shocking time on Karataş beach in Konak area of İzmir, Turkey, after catching a human skull with his fishing hook while trying to catch fish.
The fisherman immediately informed the authorities upon discovering the skull, prompting local police and marine police teams to quickly head to the incident site.
The security teams retrieved the skull from the water and transported it to the beach for preliminary examination, where it was found to have clear deformations indicating it had been underwater for a long time.
In the context of the investigations, the skull was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institution in İzmir to accurately identify its owner.
The Police Department of Konak, through the Violent Crimes Division, opened an extensive investigation to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and to determine the reasons for the skull's presence in the sea.
The police confirmed that they would utilize all criminal and technical means to identify the individual and the circumstances that led to his death, while residents of the area watch the incident with concern, especially other fishermen who frequent the same beach.
