The Moroccan national team won the title of the U-20 World Cup held in Chile, by winning the final against their Argentine counterpart.
The match, which took place at the “Santiago National” stadium early on Monday, ended with a 2-0 victory for the Atlas Lions.
In the 12th minute, Yasser Zabiry executed a perfect free kick and placed it directly into the net, giving the Moroccan team the lead.
In the 29th minute, Maam started on the right side, penetrated and then passed to Yasser Zabiry who did not hesitate to put it into the net, scoring Morocco’s second goal.
The Moroccan team reached the finals for the first time in its history, after a series of resounding victories over Spain, Brazil, and the United States.
The “Atlas Cubs” qualified for the final after winning the penalty shoot-out 5-4 against France in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, the “Tango” team reached the finals after defeating Colombia with a goal to nil.
Morocco is the second Arab team to reach the finals of the tournament after Qatar in 1981 when “Al-Annabi” lost against West Germany 0-4 in Australia.
