Khaberni - It seems that "Apple" has finally decided to backtrack on its stance and catch up, as the company is currently working on developing its first touchscreen MacBook, in a long-awaited move by its audience.

This comes after more than a decade of mocking the idea of a "touchscreen Mac".

Tech expert Mark Gurman has revealed that the MacBook Touch project is no longer just an experimental idea within the company, but has turned into an actual production plan, which is intriguing given "Apple's" history of mocking devices it later emulates.

From mockery to emulation
"Apple" criticized its competitors' products before eventually adopting the same ideas, starting from large-screen devices and smart pens, to artificial intelligence, which it initially described as a "temporary fad" before launching its own initiative under the name Apple Intelligence, which still faces challenges in performance and integration, according to a report published by "phonearena" and reviewed by "Khaberni Business".

The real reason behind the reversal
Gurman points out that the long-standing rejection of the idea of a touchscreen Mac was primarily due to the fear of declining iPad sales, as "Apple" considered that having a touchscreen on a Mac would make users forgo the iPad.

However, with declining iPad sales in recent years and the unification of processors with the Apple Silicon system, the boundaries between the Mac and the iPad have become less clear.

Moreover, the update to iPadOS 26 has made the iPad experience closer than ever to the macOS environment.

A belated but necessary step
Analysts believe that the time has come for this step, as touchscreens have become a standard in modern laptops, especially in competing Windows devices.

It is expected that the MacBook Touch devices will be widely welcomed by users who have long demanded them, although this enthusiasm may negatively reflect on the sales of the current generation of MacBook M5, with consumers waiting for the new model.

In the end, it seems that "Apple" has not suddenly changed its convictions, but was forced to adapt to a market that no longer accepts a strict separation between touch and the keyboard, a shift that reflects the company's recognition that "touch is no longer an option, but a necessity".
