Khaberni - Actor Yasser Galal, a Senate member who portrayed President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, in the series "The Choice" when he was Minister of Defense during the reign of the Muslim Brotherhood, talked about the behind the scenes of his meeting with the president.
Galal said in a television statement on the program "Al-Hekaya" broadcasted on MBC Egypt channel, that he never knew he was going to portray him and he wasn't chosen by himself as rumored. He explained that a trial acting video was filmed and presented to President El-Sisi, who was very surprised by his performance in portraying his character, after which the work was continued, and the president had no connection with the work thereafter.
He confirmed that he did not sit with the President before portraying his role, but a meeting occurred later and he advised him a "will" about his relationship with the late President Mohamed Morsi, who was ousted by the June 30 revolution against the rule of the Muslim Brotherhood.
He continued: "The president’s will was that his relationship with President Morsi was very good and please treat Dr. Morsi's character with the utmost respect."
He went on: "President El-Sisi was keen on ensuring honesty and accuracy in every detail of the work, to the extent that I suggested beautifying some scenes, but I was told that we would shoot what actually happened as it is."
Regarding the impact of his performance on his artistic work afterwards, and rumors that his roles would be restricted after portraying the president’s character, he said he was not forced to refrain from performing any character afterwards, and that he is currently filming a comedic work, as he was offered during the past two years a series where he played the character "Shahryar".
The series "The Choice 3" was released in 2022 and he played the character of the Minister of Defense, General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, at that time during the reign of the Muslim Brotherhood.
