Renewal of Israeli raids on Rafah and ongoing clashes in southern Gaza Strip

Khaberni - Palestinian sources reported renewed Israeli raids on areas in the east of Rafah city, south of the Gaza Strip, amid ongoing violent clashes, according to Israeli army radio.

Channel 14 Hebrew reported an explosion in an engineering vehicle belonging to the occupation army in Rafah, prompting a wide military alert and the call for helicopters to the site. A number of injured soldiers were transported, while Hebrew sources mentioned the death of a soldier, and settler-affiliated platforms reported the death of two soldiers in the same incident.

Following the explosion, the Israeli Air Force launched raids on targets in Rafah and Jabaliya in the northern Gaza Strip, according to channels 12 and 14 Israeli, claiming to respond to a ceasefire breach, after an exchange of fire between the army and gunmen.

On the political front, Channel 12 Israeli reported that Prime Minister Netanyahu left the cabinet meeting to conduct urgent security consultations to assess the situation with the Defense Minister and officials, while Ministers Ben-Gvir and Smotrich demanded the resumption of fighting in the Gaza Strip, with Ben-Gvir urging Netanyahu to order the army to resume operations at full strength.

Channel 12 also reported from informed sources that the raids on southern Rafah came in an attempt to protect the militias of Yasser Abu Shabab.
