Khaberni - The number of the public transport vehicle fleet under the jurisdiction of the Road Transport Authority slightly increased by 0.1% in the third quarter of this year compared to the second quarter, bringing the total number of vehicles in the fleet to 40,315, according to the performance indicators of the Road Transport Authority.
The indicators showed that the number of smart application vehicles increased by 5% in the third quarter, reaching 11,611 vehicles belonging to 4 licensed companies.
The number of yellow taxis decreased by 1.1% during the comparison period, reaching 5,262 vehicles by the end of the third quarter of 2025, affiliated with 130 taxi offices under the jurisdiction of the Road Transport Authority.
Meanwhile, the number of general category vehicles increased by one vehicle compared to the second quarter of this year, reaching 999 vehicles at 3,717 vehicles during the same period.
Public buses recorded a decrease of 6.3% and reached 785 buses by the end of the third quarter of this year.
Regarding specialized transport companies during the second quarter of this year, the total number of companies was 350, including 156 general cargo transport companies, 120 container transport companies, and 28 crude oil transport companies.
The number of tractors was 19,852 and the number of trailers was 24,775, with ownership distributed at 78.8% for individuals and 21.2% for companies.
As for the age of the freight fleet, it stabilized by the end of the third quarter at 16.6 years, the average operational age for large buses at 13.5 years, and for medium buses at 14.3 years.
The performance indicators showed that the capital expenditure of the Authority since the beginning of the first half of this year exceeded 9.1 million dinars, while the satisfaction rate with public transport services in the third quarter of 2025 reached 68%.
Regarding small vehicles licensed to operate on transport services by the Authority, based on fuel, the performance indicators showed that the number of gasoline vehicles for all transport modes including smart apps, reached 16,424 vehicles, and the number of hybrid (hybrid) vehicles reached 13,737 vehicles, with 1,102 vehicles operating on electricity.
The number of buses per 1,000 people in the third quarter of this year was 0.54 buses.
