Khaberni - Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Imad Hijazin participated in the International Conference of Catholic Bodies Concerned with Pilgrimage, held in Rome, Italy, accompanied by the General Director of the Baptism Site Authority, where he presented an overview on the religious significance of Jordan in the map of Christian pilgrimage regionally and globally.

Hijazin confirmed in his speech that Jordan, under the leadership and patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, pays great attention to the holy religious sites, especially the Christian pilgrimage sites, pointing out that the kingdom embraces dozens of sites linked to the Bible, among them five sites officially recognized by the Vatican as Christian pilgrimage sites.

He explained that this royal attention is reflected in the continuous directives to protect these sites and to develop their infrastructure and tourist services, particularly the Baptism Site (Al-Maghtas), which is considered one of the most important religious sites in the Christian world.

Hijazin highlighted His Majesty the King's invitation to His Holiness the Pope during their last meeting in the Vatican to visit Jordan and witness its religious and humanitarian heritage that embodies the values of harmony and shared living among followers of different religions.

On his part, the General Director of the Baptism Site Authority presented an overview discussing the historical and spiritual significance of the Baptism Site, its connection with other religious sites in the kingdom, and affirmed Jordan's leading role in preserving this unique heritage and presenting it to the world as a symbol of peace and tolerance.
