Statement from Aqabat Jaber on the killing of Khalil Duwas in Jabalia tunnels

Khaberni - The elders and residents of Aqabat Jaber camp in Jericho issued the following statement regarding Khalil Duwas, the victim who collaborated with the Israeli army.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

"And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another"

Recently, some media outlets and social media platforms circulated inaccurate information regarding the identity of the so-called Khalil Duwas, who was killed during the latest Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, mistakenly attributing him to Aqabat Jaber camp in Jericho.

In response, the elders and residents of the camp would like to clarify the following:

1. Khalil Duwas does not belong to Aqabat Jaber camp, but his origins are from Jabalia city in the Gaza Strip.

2. He came to the West Bank in 2000 and stayed temporarily in several areas including Kafr Aqab, Tel, Taluza, Al-Jiftlik, and Aqabat Jaber camp, accompanied by his family who moved between these areas over the past years.

3. He was expelled from Aqabat Jaber camp after his relationship with the occupying forces and his collaboration with them was discovered, which caused significant resentment and anger among the residents of the camp.

4. His wife, children, and some family members still reside in the camp, while two of his brothers are in Israeli prisons.

5. Following his killing in one of the tunnels of Jabalia by the resistance during the genocidal war on Gaza, his family and brothers publicly disowned him, affirming that his actions do not represent them or the camp residents in any way.

The elders and residents of Aqabat Jaber camp confirm that his brothers are former prisoners and belong to a family with a proud national history and under no circumstances should they be harmed or blamed for the actions of their brother, as God Almighty said "And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another".

The elders also stress the need for media outlets, news websites, and social platforms to adhere to accuracy and responsibility in disseminating information, and to rely on trusted and well-known sources, to avoid distorting facts or tarnishing the reputation of the camp and its people.

Aqabat Jaber camp, which has produced dozens of martyrs and hundreds of prisoners in the course of the Palestinian struggle, strongly rejects any association of its name with practices unrelated to its patriotic and humanitarian values, and affirms that the camp will remain a symbol of honor, loyalty, and commitment to Palestine and its resilient people.
