Farewell to Blemishes A 15minute daily routine to overcome acne without medication

Khaberni - Acne may be one of the more common skin issues, affecting about three million adults in Britain, according to the National Health Service (NHS), and many find it difficult to control.

Today, dermatology experts warn against costly, multi-step routines promoted by social media, as they can do more harm than good. Kimberly Mead, head of the clinic "Face the Future," says: "Acne is a common problem regardless of age, but dealing with it can be exhausting if you don’t know where to start."

Causes of Acne
Acne is caused by clogging of hair follicles with oils and dead skin cells, creating an environment conducive to bacterial growth and the emergence of inflammation. Hormonal changes, stress, and diet can also play roles in exacerbating the issue, with a higher risk of blemishes for women in their thirties and forties along the jawline and chin.

An effective routine for treating acne in 15 minutes
Mead emphasizes that less can be more effective, where regular and focused care not exceeding 15 minutes in the morning and evening can make a significant difference:

Morning:
Use a gentle, pH-balanced cleanser to remove oils without over-stripping the skin, such as CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser.
Apply concentrated treatment as needed, such as salicylic acid or azelaic acid to reduce inflammation and clear pores.
Moisturize the skin with a light, oil-free gel containing hyaluronic acid.
Use sunscreen to protect the skin.

Evening:
Remove makeup and sunscreen using a gentle oil-based cleanser or micellar water.
Deep cleanse using the usual cleanser.
Apply retinoids like PharmaSeris T-Pure Retinol 0.3%, gradually two to three nights a week, then increase dosage as needed.
Moisturize the skin after treatment to strengthen the skin barrier and support recovery.
Mead stresses that adhering to this routine for six to eight weeks is necessary to notice a significant improvement, avoiding harsh exfoliants or overly drying products, washing pillowcases regularly, and avoiding touching the face throughout the day.

If acne does not improve after the home routine, you can do the following:

Topical treatment: Creams or gels containing benzoyl peroxide, retinoids like adapalene, or topical antibiotics.
Oral treatment: Includes hormonal treatment for women, or short-term antibiotics to reduce inflammation.
Isotretinoin (Accutane): For severe or cystic types of acne, under strict medical supervision.
Additional treatments: Laser, light therapy, chemical peels, or microneedling to improve acne scars.

Diet and Acne
Recent research suggests that high glycemic index foods such as white bread, sweets, and sugary drinks can increase oil production and inflammation, while a low glycemic index diet rich in vegetables, whole grains, and omega-3 fats can help soothe the skin. However, experts confirm that food is rarely the main cause of acne.
