Vitamin B3 helps in fighting skin cancer

Khaberni - A comprehensive study conducted on American veterans, including more than 33,000 participants, found that nicotinamide - one form of vitamin B3 - can significantly reduce the risk of non-melanoma skin cancers.

The strongest benefit of this vitamin was seen in those who started taking 500 mg twice daily after being diagnosed with skin cancer for the first time, as they experienced a 54% reduction in subsequent cancer incidences.

According to "Study Finds", this dietary supplement was associated with a 14% reduced risk of any new skin cancer among all participants.

DNA Repair
Nicotinamide supports DNA repair after ultraviolet light damage and reduces inflammation, helping the immune system eliminate abnormal cells.

Early Use
The research team from Anglia Ruskin University observed that the benefit diminishes if the supplement is only started after the recurrence of the disease, indicating that early use is crucial.

The researchers emphasized that taking vitamin B3 is not a substitute for precautionary measures such as using sunscreen, protective clothing, and regular skin checks.

Vitamin B3 is found in meats, poultry, fish, and nuts, as well as in plant-based options like avocados, mushrooms, and whole grains.
