Khaberni - US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he will meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Budapest, Hungary, to determine ways to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, but without disclosing the date of the meeting.
Trump made a phone call to Putin today, on the eve of a meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office at the White House, indicating that he will discuss the details of his call with President Putin, in addition to many other issues.
Trump wrote on the platform "Truth Social" that he had a "very productive" phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where Putin congratulated the United States on "the great achievement of peace in the Middle East" which he described as a "dream that has haunted humanity for centuries".
In a statement, Trump mentioned that Putin expressed admiration for the American efforts in making progress in the region, and said that this success would contribute to speeding up the negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
Trump stated that Putin thanked First Lady Melania Trump for her involvement in child welfare issues, expressing his great appreciation for that.
He added that they agreed to continue cooperation in this area.
Regarding trade between Russia and the United States, Trump mentioned that a significant amount of time was allocated to discuss this issue, focusing on what comes after the end of the war with Ukraine. He also announced an agreement to hold a meeting of high-level advisors from both sides next week, led by American Secretary of State Marco Rubio, along with other officials to be identified later.
Trump explained that the phone call with Putin represents a significant progress towards achieving peace in the region, affirming that the United States will continue its hard work to achieve international stability.
