The General Civil Service and Administration Agency clarifies the video clip circulated on social media showing the chairman of the agency in his meeting with the Administrative Committee of the House of Representatives, relating to the phrase "Seventy-three years for appointments in public sector jobs," where it included a part of an extensive talk by the chairman, Engineer Faiez Al-Nahar, discussing in detail the importance of transitioning to an open announcement system and its positive impact on enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the government apparatus.
The agency indicates that the mentioned phrase was part of the discussion about the consequences of continuing with the inventory system (role and competitive ranking) and the need for a gradual transition to the open announcement system, which is a fundamental pillar in the modernization framework of the public sector and provides equal opportunities for competition for public sector jobs.
It was explained that the gradual transition to the open announcement system represents a reformative and strategic direction aiming to enhance efficiency, transparency, and fairness in filling public positions, through attracting competencies based on the currently adopted standards of merit and occupational skills within the modern human resources management policies, allowing younger and more skilled and efficient candidates.
The chairman of the agency affirmed that appointments in the public sector continue based on its annual needs, which are estimated at about seven to eight thousand jobs annually.
