Khaberni - The Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, announced the launch of the "King Salman Gateway" project as a multi-purpose destination in Mecca.
"King Salman Gateway" spans a total construction area of 12 million square meters next to the Grand Mosque, and the project aims to achieve a qualitative leap in developing the infrastructure of Mecca and the central region in particular, to become a global model for urban development, being a major contributor in supporting efforts to develop the area and facilitate visits while providing high-quality services to the visitors of the Holy Mosque, enriching their religious and cultural experience in line with the objectives of the Guest Service Program of Mercy.
The "King Salman Gateway" project is distinguished by its strategic location next to the Grand Mosque, and primarily serves the visitors of the Holy House of God by enhancing the service system and providing residential, cultural, and service facilities around the Grand Mosque. Furthermore, the project adds a capacity that accommodates approximately 900,000 worshippers in indoor prayer areas and external plazas.
The project is linked to public transportation to facilitate access to the Grand Mosque, and represents an exceptional blend harmoniously combining Mecca's rich architectural heritage with the finest contemporary lifestyle standards, ensuring the highest levels of comfort for visitors. The project also aims to preserve the historical and cultural heritage in Mecca by developing and rehabilitating an area of about 19,000 square meters of cultural and heritage areas to enrich the religious and cultural experience of visitors to the Holy House of God. Additionally, the project will contribute to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in terms of economic diversification by creating more than 300,000 job opportunities by 2036.
