Khaberni - EDGE, a global leader in the fields of advanced technology and defense, announced a contract signing with the global technology group "E&", for the implementation and operation of an advanced system for managing unmanned traffic in the region of Abu Dhabi.
The agreement was signed between Masoud M. Sharif Mahmoud, CEO of "E& Emirates", and Hamad Al Marrar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE group, in the presence of Dr. Mohammad Al Kuwaiti, head of the Cybersecurity Council for the UAE government, at the GITEX Global 2025 exhibition.
Traffic Coordination
The leading unmanned traffic management system will enable immediate monitoring, avoidance of conflicts, and coordination of traffic among multiple drone operators, ensuring safer skies and more efficient utilization of unmanned systems in activities such as emergency response, environmental monitoring, logistics, and smart city services.
Smart City Services
Masoud M. Sharif Mahmoud, CEO of "E& Emirates", said: "The combination of the advanced capabilities we provide at 'E& Emirates' in areas such as 5G networks, cloud computing, and cybersecurity, with EDGE's advanced unmanned traffic management platform, will allow Abu Dhabi to establish a regulated digital airspace. Government entities and licensed operators will be able to gain immediate and real-time understanding of the field situation, ensuring safe separation between drones to avoid collisions in the air, enabling secure data exchange, which supports quick emergency response and enhances the safety of logistic services, and opens opportunities for offering smart city services on a large scale, within a framework of clear governance and design that fully respects data privacy."
Enhancing Public Services
Hamad Al Marrar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE group, stated: "The agreement with 'E&' is a significant and important step towards creating a regulated, safe, and innovative air environment throughout the UAE. By seamlessly integrating drones within the national airspace, the unmanned traffic management system will enhance public services, such as emergency response and infrastructure monitoring, while ensuring that operators, regulatory bodies, and government entities have the necessary tools to manage them safely and effectively. We are working together to position the UAE as a leader in the fields of smart, autonomous technology supported by artificial intelligence, completely aligned with the strategic ambitions of the state."
The implementation of this system represents a qualitative leap not only in managing the airspace but also in the way the UAE employs technology to deliver tangible benefits to society. The program is fully aligned with the country's Industry 4.0 vision, accelerating the deployment of smart and autonomous systems, enhancing national sovereign capabilities, and directly supporting the goals of the Autonomous Smart Systems Board in Abu Dhabi, through the safe integration of future technologies into daily life.
