Khaberni - As part of the efforts of the Jordan National Union Party in enhancing political participation and consolidating the concept of a party-state, Mr. Mohammad Fawaz Al-Khasawneh – the General Secretary of the party – participated in the National Forum for Dialogue on Local Administration Law organized by Jordan Partners organization, sponsored by His Excellency Faisal Al-Fayez, the President of the Senate, with a broad participation of party and national leaders and local affairs experts.
The General Secretary emphasized in his intervention the importance of developing the local administration law to keep pace with the new political stage that the Jordanian state seeks to consolidate a democratic party approach in public affairs management, indicating that the success of the party experience is only complete through integrating parties within the elected local structures like provincial councils, municipalities, and central councils.
Al-Khasawneh mentioned that the Jordan National Union Party has presented a set of recommendations and proposed amendments to the draft law, the most prominent of which are:
The need for gradual access to party strength within local administration institutions through the electoral pathway to ensure fair representation and national balance.
Maintaining provincial councils as a fundamental pillar for linking local administration to developmental planning and effective political representation.
Enhancing the supervisory and executive role of the elected councils to achieve true decentralization and grant the citizen a direct role in decision-making for developmental and service matters.
The General Secretary emphasized that the next phase requires broad national consensus to draft a modern local administration law that aligns with the royal vision in enabling political parties to be an effective partner in development and decision-making, stressing that the party sees this law as a pivotal step towards an institutional party-state based on justice, participation, and integration between authorities and the local community.
Al-Khasawneh concluded his speech by affirming that the Jordan National Union Party will continue to work and participate in all national dialogues, believing that reform is only achieved through dialogue, participation, and conscious party practice that enhances trust between the citizen and state institutions.
