Khaberni - Special

Random openings scattered on the Baghdad International Road in Mafraq Governorate, eastern Jordan, pose a real threat to the lives of road users.

A number of citizens, especially from the Northern Badia, speaking to Khaberni, complained about the existence of illegal U-turn holes, which endangers the lives of drivers and road users.

The citizens demanded the Ministry of Public Works and Housing to find a radical solution and close these openings, which some individuals made to shorten the detour distance, affirming that it constitutes a legal violation, especially after parts of the central median (the barrier) were demolished at several locations along the road, particularly after the Salehiyah area and up to the Zaatari area, affecting the safety of hundreds of thousands of road users.

Citizen Ahmad Al-Masaideh said that these openings have become a real threat to lives, as they are randomly spread and without any signage or engineering justifications.

The Baghdad International Road is one of the most important and oldest main arteries in the Jordanian road network, witnessing active freight movement to and from Iraq, frequented by travelers headed to Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and other Gulf countries. It also serves as a vital link connecting the capital Amman with the eastern and border areas, and is used daily by thousands of citizens including residents and employees from the Northern Badia.
