Khaberni - In a new development in the trial of star Fadel Shaker, information reported that the Lebanese Army Intelligence has completed its investigations with him and officially handed over his statement file to the military court judge Claude Ghanem, who will in turn study the file and annotate it, before handing it over to the head of the military court, Brigadier General Bassam Fayad.
The head of the military court is expected to set the date for the first session of the trial of the Lebanese artist regarding the charges attributed to him this week, after studying the file of the cases he is accused in, and reviewing his statements, especially the default judgments that have been issued against him, which legally fall after he voluntarily surrendered himself to the Army Intelligence at the beginning of this month.
The information clarified that the date of the first session may be determined at the beginning of next week, with the trial continuing for several sessions, where the president and members of the court will listen to the defense team of the artist Fadel Shaker, and the testimonies of witnesses involved in the events of the Abra battle that occurred years ago against the Lebanese army.
What are the charges against Fadel Shaker?
It should be noted that Fadel Shaker faces charges of participating in battles against the Lebanese army in Abra in 2014 and killing soldiers, but the military court acquitted him in 2018. He also faces a charge of joining an armed group and funding it, a charge of offending a brotherly state, and a charge of money laundering, charges for which default judgments were issued in 2020 sentencing him to 22 years in prison.
Fadel Shaker's lawyer previously confirmed that he would be retried in all these cases, and it is not required that the new judgments be issued by the military court in a single session, and the judgments that will be issued against him are subject to appeal, and the military public prosecution can also appeal them, as can Fadel Shaker appeal the judgment if it is not in his favor. The military court can also release him at any time during his trial phase.
