Opening of the New Arrivals and Departures Building at Al Durra Border Center in Aqaba

Khaberni - The new building for arrivals and departures at the Al Durra Border Center in Aqaba Governorate was inaugurated today, Wednesday, after completing the "Enhancing Border Management and Security Practices at Entry Points in Aqaba Governorate" project, which was implemented by the International Organization for Migration and funded by Global Affairs Canada.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Chief of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Shadi Al-Majali, and the Director of Residence and Borders Administration, Brigadier General Saed Al-Qatawneh, the CEO of Aqaba Development Corporation, Hussein Al-Safadi, the Director of Aqaba Border Customs, Colonel Nidal Al-Shamayleh, the Political Advisor at the Canadian Embassy in Jordan Karen Bongard, the Head of Mission of the International Organization for Migration, Fatima Ghazali, and a number of military and civilian officials in Aqaba Governorate.

The implementation of this project is an extension of the effective partnership between the Jordanian and Canadian governments, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration, to enhance border security and develop policing and service systems by supporting infrastructure and providing modern technical and technological capabilities, which contributes to facilitating the movement of travelers and enhancing commercial and economic activity in the region.

The new building includes a number of halls and offices designed according to the highest international specifications and standards, with advanced operational capabilities appropriate for its vital role, where it will contribute to facilitating travel procedures and the movement of goods by adopting modern systems that enhance efficiency and speed in completing transactions.
